Saturday Synopsis
More Gigs
I write this in between today's two gigs. This morning at The Apex was such fun and it was such a pleasure singing at this magnificent venue. You sounded amazinng and I know our french friends (and English ones) were very impressed.
Lots of good contacts made so I'll be following those up soon. Francoise (Chair of The Friends of Compiègne) and Madame La Maire asked me to pass on thier thanks to you all.
This evening we're singing for the St Elizabeth Hospice Midnight Walk. Such an honour to be asked to sing at the hospice itself. We'll be outside but under some gazebos. But the weather looks good in any case! Can't wait to see you all there.
New Shirts
New shirts have arrived and so we've now got a wider range of sizes including XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL and 4XL. You can order online for collection at a gig or rehearsal at popclubchoir.uk/shop.
Many of you have expressed concern about being too hot at The Suffolk Show so I'm giving some thought to ordering some lighter-weight white t-shirts for you all, with our Pop Club Choir logo on the front in black. Lots of you have asked for t-shirts and many of you have expressed opinions as to colours. But you're not of one mind, dear Pop Club Choir singers, so I might go for a nice safe, black print on white t-shirt.
Again, let me know your thoughts and suffice it to say, there's no obligation to buy a second shirt if you're happy with the black polos. I don't mind you mixing and matching so it's fine if some of you are in black and other are in white.
Extraordinarily, we're now at week six of this term so my thoughts are turning to our next end of term social. Do feel free to let me know what you'd like to do and where you'd like to do it. Summer BBQ, a meal or drinks somewhere, or whatever... I know Ipswich Sports Club are keen to host us again (last time was, according to one club member, "The night of the year!") but you might prefer that we move things about a bit.
Let me have your preferences and ideas!
The Suffolk Show
Whilst on the subject of The Suffolk Show please, please, please sign up as soon as possible as I need to get the correct number of tickets ordered. You can sign up in the Calendar area below. You're welcome to come just one day or both if you prefer.
As soon as they arrive, I'll work out how to get them to you. I'll either set up camp in the Car Park at the show, in the morning, so that those of you that want to take advantage of the whole day can grab their tickets, or I'll get you to call round and pick them up from our home which is not too far from the showground.
Tuesday Nights Are Pop Club Choir Night
Things have moved forward with our new Tuesday night location which will be in the Bungay/Beccles area. I'm just finalising venue now and no doubt we'll have a poll on the WhatsApp group to see which venue you prefer. If you'd like to join the WhatsApp group for Bungay/Beccless you can do so by clicking here or just send me a message on WhatsApp (07973 110075) asking to be added to the group.
Workshops
I thoroughly enjoyed our workshop at Bungay in April. We learned the whole of Just Give Me A Reason in a single session, as well as tackling some Hot Hopefuls and I Can See Clearly Now.
I plan to do more of these, covering material already in the Pop Club Choir repertoire so that if you've missed any songs, or you're new to Pop Club Choir, you have the opportunity to catch up.
I'll move them about geographically, so that everyone has a chance to come, and I plan to build a little tool for the website where you can tell me which songs you'd like to learn or re-learn, when you're available and so on. I might just be taking the old laptop with me when I'm away next week...
Finally, a reminder that there'll be no Pop Club Choir at Ipswich or Thetford this week but we WILL be meeting at Bury St Edmunds on Monday 20th May.
If you have any questions, you can email me at ed@popclubchoir.uk, or whatsapp, call or text on 07973 110075.
