A weekly, termtime roundup of Pop Club Choir goings-on and a peek at what’s coming next.

Saturday Synopsis

Change of venue for Ipswich (one week only)

If you come to our Ipswich choir, please make sure you join the one-way WhatsApp. Next week (Wednesday 12 March), and for one week only, we'll be at a different venue while the floor is relaid at Ipswich Sports Club. I'll publish details in the WhatsApp group very soon.

To join the group, make sure you have WhatsApp downloaded on your device and then click here to join the group.

Only I can send messages in this group so you won't be disturbed by constant pings on your phone.

If you're not sure what WhatsApp is, or how to download it then give me a shout and I'll gladly talk you through it.

Don't Leave Me This Way

I'm more than a little excited about our next song. It's been the highest-voted tune in the Members' Area for a considerable time. It was first suggested by Laura at Croxton. Laura is also the other face on our posters and flyers. So if you don't like this song, you know who to speak to.

After the gentle ride that was Rule The World, this might be slightly harder – definitely a "three-weeker" – but everything you need for a sneaky pre-listen is now in the Downloads.

My Pro-Tip would be that, if you click on the Last Modified column header, the list of songs will be sorted to show the most recenlty modified version. So you can quickly see if I've added anything new.

Video Recaps

The video recaps seem to be proving useful. Thank you all for your kind words. Next on my list are Time After Time and Reach. If you've got any songs that you'd particularly like a recap lesson and/or a very loud version of your part for, then do let me know. I'd much prefer to prioritise the ones you'd like me to cover.

I've a busy weekend ahead of me but I'm hoping to get a recap lesson for Rule The World done on Sunday. Recording and editing are both fairly time-intensive processes so it might be early part of next week before that hits the Members' Area. But rest assured, I'm on it!

Long-standing pop-clubbers will know that, after 38 years, I'm in the process of retiring from my day job which is singing in a band. It turns out that there are only so many miles one can do before it starts to get really tedious. I've very much reached that limit. For now, I've still got a few obligations to honour with the band but after that, aside from friends, family or anything no more than a hundred yards from my doorstep, my attention will be entirely on Pop Club Choir.

Hot Hopefuls

I've enjoyed singing a couple of new Hot Hopefuls. This week's (McFly's All About You) has been polling very highly for a while in the Song Suggestions. Not sure it completely hit the spot with you folks this week though. Not sure whether that's because it's not quite the belter we thought it was, or whether it was just not quite in the right key. Hang on to your lyric sheets for a while longer and I might re-key the track to something a little more suitable

Our Hot Hopeful this week will be Mr Brightside by The Killers. I feel I normally have a pretty good idea of what will work and what won't but with this one... I think it's fair to say that all bets are off! Certainly a great tune, a classic in the making if not already one, but will it McFly or McFlop? I'm excited to find out.

Lyrics are available in the Downloads section as usual.
