A weekly, termtime roundup of Pop Club Choir goings-on and a peek at what’s coming next.

Saturday Synopsis

Christmas Socials

Not one, not two but three Christmas Socials for us this year. We'll be meeting in Thetford for a combined Bury St Edmunds and Croxton Christmas Shindig on Monday 9th December. Expect delicious food, Secret Santa, Quiz and more. All organised by our very own Caroyln.

Judith has organised a Christmas Meal for our newest location, Bungay. We'll be meeting and eating at The Wine Vaults Bar in Beccles and no doubt, having a good old Christmas sing-song too.

If you're coming to either Bury/Croxton or Bungay please make sure you let Carolyn or Judith know. They're both on their respective WhatsApp groups (Judith on Bungay and Carolyn on either Bury or Croxton) so you can get in touch with them there, or you can just send a message to me and I'll whizz it through to them.

Finally, Ipswich will be tucking into a delicious Christmas Dinner at The Railway Inn in Westerfield. But before we do, we'll be singing for our supper as beforehand, we have a performance planned at the same venue!

We'll be raising money for Papyrus once more and The Railway have agreed to make a donation to the charity in return for our no doubt fabulous performance.

You'll need to sign up separately for the performance and the meal, so if you'd like to come along to sing and to eat, please make sure you sign up for both events. You'll find the singing bit in the Calendar as normal under Gigs and the eating bit is under Social.

All the details you need are in the Calendar below but do shout if you have any questions.

Suggest A Song

It's lovely to see that you're enjoying the Suggest A Song feature on the website.

This has now been completely rebuilt and should be a bit easier to navigate. If you've not yet voted for a song, the thumb icons will be grey and once you've clicked on the them they'll turn either green (for a thumbs up) or red (for a thumbs down).

There's a new search feature so you can check if a song has already been suggested. You're more likely to find it if you search for a key word in either the title or the artist box. For example, instead of searching for "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday", try searching for just the word "Christmas" instead.

The same applies when searching by artist. You'd have more luck if you searched for "Chilli", rather than "The Red Hot Chilli Peppers".

Once you've narrowed down your results by searching, you will then be able to suggest a song. In other words, in order to avoid duplicates and thus wasted votes, you have to search firsrt, before it will let you add a song.

How I Pick The Songs

It's fantastically useful for me to have your song suggestions and equally brilliant that many of you have taken the trouble to vote on them.

I hope it's also good for you to be able to influence the song choices too. And you may notice that songs that are polling well are now highlighted (highlit?) in a rather fetching gold colour.

Though I'd obviously encourage you to jump on and vote for the ones you love (and hate), I'm trying not to fall into the trap of assuming that everyone has expressed their preferences. By way of example, the highest number of votes that a single song has received (both up and down) is just over 50. That means that only a quarter of you have expressed a preference on this.

Songs for next week

Finally, next week we'll be continuing with I Want It That Way and we'll also be running a couple of Christmas Hot Hopefuls in the form of Merry Christmas Everyone and I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday. We'll be singing those through in unison so no learning to do for them!

As always, lyrics can be found in the Downloads section below.
