Saturday Synopsis
Giant and other songs...
It seems that Giant has not been quite as divisive as I'd expected. Whatever your thoughts on the song itself, you appear to like my arrangement and it's been sounding amazing all week.
It will most definitely be a really useful song to have in our repertoire for gigs. Not sure we'll be rocking it at any care homes, but it's going to be great for the more public gigs we do.
I expect to finish the teaching of it this upcoming week but it really is pretty straightforward from here on in, particularly once we've tackled the end of the chorus. Verse two is almost identical to verse one so that only really leaves the bridge (lines 44 to 50). And that is very straightforward for everyone but the upper altos.
If you are an upper alto and you get a minute this weekend, please do have a listen to line 45 (2 minutes and 50 seconds into the track). It's not especially difficult but the timing might present a few problems if you're not familiar with it. Or to put it another way, if you are familiar with it then it'll be much easier to consolidate than to try and pick it up from scratch.
Merchandise and Badges
All pre-orderers are now sorted and stock is updated popclubchoir.uk/shop so do grab anything you need from there
Don't forget that you can also order badges in the popclubchoir.uk/shop. Nothing to pay at the time of ordering, but if you don't mind paying paying 50p in cash when you collect your badge, I'll pass that straight over to Sandra, who kindly sorts the badges out for us all.
Also, in response to your requests, a heads up that I'll have a new line of rather fetching polo shirts in maroon available soon. I've located what I think it the highest quality polo out there so I'm excited to get these out to you soon
As always, please be assured that there's no obligation to buy new "merch". Like all things Pop Club Choir, I'm keen to keep the rules and regulations to a minimum, which seems to work for the majority of you.
Music Player
The Music Player is almost ready to be taken fully live. Thanks to everyone who has submitted "bug reports" – it's been really helpful.
Almost every single problem can be resolved by fully clearing your cache. The reason this is necessary is not straightforward but it's a simple fix. You can find out how to do this for your device by googling, "How do I delete the cache for [insert name of your device here]?"
Have a look at the red tab on the right hand side of the window. The long number should end ...4105. If it doesn't, you need to clear your cache!
It's very much a "work-in-progress" so expect to see new features there soon!
You can find it at popclubchoir.uk/music
Summer Social
Our summer picnic is now booked for Sunday 29th June – the Sunday after the end of term – from 2pm to 5pm.
We'll be guests of our Thetford Choir and tickets are available now at popclubchoir.uk/shop, priced at £5 each.
There are full details in the Calendar section below.
End Of Term
I've had lots of feedback with regards to how you'd like to make best use of the remaining rehearsals this term. Almost everyone has asked if we can use the sessions for recaping and reteaching some songs.
If you have an opinion then please do let me know.
If you have any questions then do get in touch. You can email me at ed@popclubchoir.uk, or WhatsApp, call or text on 07973 110075.
