A weekly, termtime roundup of Pop Club Choir goings-on and a peek at what’s coming next.

Saturday Synopsis

Thetford Well Being Faye

Many thanks to Thetford member Christine for asking us to sing at this gig. Back in 2024 if was our first ever gig (and Christine joined our lovely group as a result of seeing us there).

It was a really fun morning and afternoon and many of us enjoyed a nice lunch in the pub together in between sets.

Thanks to our Thetford camera man John. The fruits of his labour can be seen in the Facebook group. You may also have spotted the post (which I shared to the Facebook group) from the Photographer, Neil James. Lots of fantastic pictures of the event (and of Pop Club Choir) in his post.

Final Week of Term

Normally I'd suggest some hot hopefuls, a more lengthy break for socialising, nibbles and so on. But...

I still have 24 pages on my score of Don't Leave Me This Way to cover. I think we'll need to keep our heads down to get through – and I'm determined to finish the song by the end of term.

Next job on my list is to start the Recap lesson for what we've covered so far, but in the meantime, do please take a bit of time to listen to the loud or very loud versions of Don't Leave Me This Way ahead of next week's rehearsal. If you can be really familiar with what we've already covered then that'll take the pressure off a bit.

Term Dates

Dates for the new term are below, in the Calendar section.

When you open the Calendar up, you'll be presented with a list of our gigs. If you click your location name at the top of the section (Bury, Bungay, Ipswich or Thetford) you'll get a list of all the rehearsal for the remainder of the year.

Equally, if you click Socials you'll get a list of upcoming Social Events. Which brings me neatly on to...

Quiz Night

Tickets are whizzing out quickly and (hopefully) you're getting teams, plus amusing team names, organised.

Don't worry if you've not got a team sorted – we can organise that on the night.

Finally, I'll be publishing details of the fantastic, unique, desirable (insert your own adjective here) prize on our social media soon.

  • Friday 11th April 2025
  • New Green Centre, New Green Avenue, Thurston, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk IP31 3TG
  • 7pm to 10pm
  • Teams of five or six
  • Bar will be open
  • Bring 'nibbles' for your team table
  • Tickets £5 from popclubchoir.uk/shop

Gigs

Our next gig is Sunday 6th April at the Bury St Edmunds Makers Market

The set list is in the Calendar as well as all other details with the exception of the exact location where we'll be singing. Once I have this I'll update the Calendar and will also post on the one-way WhatsApp group for each choir.

At time of writing there are 50 people signed up to do this gig so we should make a good strong noise. Still plenty of room for others if you wanted to make the trip. It's a great market and even I quite like a mooch around the shops of Bury St Edmunds.

As always, the Facebook group, or the WhatsApp chat group are the places to liaise with regards to lift and car-shares.

You can find links to all of these right at the top of this Messages from Ed section, under Useful Information.

As always, please share your thoughts and feedback. You can email me at ed@popclubchoir.uk, or WhatsApp, call or text on 07973 110075. Or hit me up on Facebook!
