Saturday Synopsis
Calling All Soloists
We'll soon be singing through Ed Sheeran's Castle On The Hill (week starting 22nd April) and I'm looking for some soloists! It'd be great to get three or four of you from each choir, so you can sing a verse each. If you'd like to give it whirl then drop me a line and in the meantime, get practising! Plan is that the soloists will sing the verses and the full choir will sing the choruses.
Songs for Week-Starting 15/4/2024
This week it's Musicals Week. We’ll be learning Bring Him Home from Les Miserables. It's a belting version and I can't wait to hear what you make of it! I've had lots of requests for some Frankie Valli so our Hot Hopeful this week is Oh What A Night (from Jersey Boys, if we're continuing the Musicals theme).
I'll be re-teaching a bit of We Built This City (first covered back in January) and we'll of course sing through Ain't No Mountain from last week, together with Flowers and Can't Take My Eyes Off You if time allows.
Croxton
Our Thetford/Croxton location continues to go from strength to strength. As well as being the first choir to do a performance (assisted by some from Bury St Edmunds of course - thank you), I'm also pleased to report that we'll be singing for the D-Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations on Thursday 6th June, in conjunction with our normal rehearsal slot. If you have time, please familiarise yourself with We'll Meet Again and White Cliffs Of Dover and we'll have a sing through them both over the preceding weeks.
If anyone from Bury St Edmunds or Ipswich wants to join us in Croxton on Thursday 6th June, you'd be most, most welcome. In fact, consider it a moral obligation! I'm very keen that we make a good, big noise, so the more people, the better!
Finally, a big thank you to all you tea and coffee drinkers at Croxton, for your kind donation to Papyrus UK. You caught me off-guard with your generosity so apologies that it took me a while to regain my composure. Back in control now!

Our Saturday workshop is nearly sold out! We’ll be looking at Just Give Me A Reason. So if you’d like a re-fresh and a chance to meet up with some of our more northerly friends, then do come along.

Website
A couple of tweaks to the website this week. I've rearranged the Your Account section, hopefully making it clear which bits you can edit (name, address, etc) and which bits you can't (username, membership expiry and the list of your purchases). You can also let me know if you need lyrics printing by clicking on the appropriate button. I'm happy to print out stuff for people if they need it, but I'm also keen not to end up with loads of copies of stuff that then go wasted!
I've implemented a new "Keep Me Logged In" feature so you can come straight back to the Members' Area without having to re-log-in each time.
Finally, I've upgraded the Music Player from beta as it seems to be working well. I'm aware that, for users of the Chrome web-browser on desktop machines there's an issue with the progress bar indicator. Unfortunately this is a Chrome problem, not an Ed problem. I’m working on a fix, along with about a million other people in the world of website programming!
Gigs
Finally, just a reminder that our next gig is getting ever closer (Sunday 12th May at Sproughton Beer Festival). This is such a fun and relaxed event to sing at so I'm really looking forward to it. The set list is now available in the Calendar section of the Members' Area. Normally for gigs, I'd be asking you to commit all the words to memory, but I'm happy if you want to bring your words along for this one!
