A weekly, termtime roundup of Pop Club Choir goings-on and a peek at what’s coming next.

Saturday Synopsis

Party

Despite not seeing you all this week, I’ve not been resting on my laurels. In truth, the bulk of my attention has been on getting everything ready for our End of Term Party this evening at Ipswich Sports Club.

popclubchoir.uk/party if you've not got your tickets yet!

At 9am, the crew will be meeting to transport 440 KG of staging to Henley Road and about the same again of PA, lighting and camera equipment. They’ll spend the rest of the day making sure it all looks and sounds beautiful for you folks.

I can’t wait!

Term Restarts Monday 8th April, 2024

I’m looking forward to singing with you next week too, as term restarts. I’ll be publishing the songs we’re tackling here in my Saturday Synopsis, but also in the Calendar Section in the Members’ Area. Click Calendar followed by your location (Bury, Ipswich, Croxton) to see what we’ll be tackling each week.

Do check the dates for this term in the Calendar, too. There are a couple of anomalies due to the availability of venues (local elections) and also, I have some meetings in France in preparation for our French Tour.

The start of a new term is the perfect time to bring along any friends or family who might enjoy Pop Club Choir. I’m confident enough to say that we’re the most fun choir in our region and we’re also less than half the price of the big-brand offerings.

People can register for a free taster session at popclubchoir.uk/tryforfree

Songs for Week-Starting 8/4/2024

This week we’ll be learning “Ain’t No Mountain” by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell. Those of you who came to our Papyrus Charity Event last December will be familiar with the song. Our friend and big-shot West End Musical Director, Francis Goodhand, has created an extended, full length version of the arrangement we looked at in December. (Francis is also the Musical Director of the Pop Club Choir All Stars and we’re looking forward to hearing him in action this evening.)

Our Hot Hopeful with be the frankly magnificent “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” by Elton John & Kiki Dee, and of course, we’ll be singing through some of last term’s repertoire too.

Workshop - Saturday 27th April

Our Saturday workshop is nearly sold out! We’ll be tackling some current Pop Club Choir repertoire, so if you’d like a re-fresh and a chance to meet up with some of more northerly friends, then do come along.

Tickets are £15 and available at popclubchoir.uk/shop

Date: Saturday 27th April

Time: 2pm to 5pm

Where: Bungay Community Centre, Old Grammar Lane, Bungay NR35 1PU

Website

The brand new music player is now ‘live’ in the members’ area so you can now play the songs directly from the website, without having to download.

I’m keeping it as ‘beta’ for another week or so while I iron out any internet-related weirdness, but touch wood, it seems to be working well so far and I’m delighted to learn that you like it.

(Quick note for users of Chrome web-browser on desktop machines. I’m aware that the progress bar indicator doesn’t work properly for you. Unfortunately this is a Chrome problem, not an Ed problem. I’m working on a fix.)
