Saturday Synopsis
I had such a good time last week. Really fun singing the tunes from the Musicals, even if Bring Him Home is something of a tear jerker!
Next week, we’ll be finishing off Bring Him Home (week starting Monday 22nd April) and our Hot Hopeful is Dolly Parton’s Nine to Five.
It’s also Solos week so if you’d like to have a crack at singing a solo then familiarise yourself with Ed Sheeran’s Castle on the Hill. The idea is that we’ll get several of you to take a verse each and then whole choir will belt out the choruses together.
Let me know if you’d like to have a go at solo. Email is ed@popclubchoir.uk
*** Term Dates*** Important!
Do please keep an eye on the Calendar section. If you click on the Choir name (Bury, Ipswich, Croxton) it'll show a list of the upcoming rehearsal dates.
We won't be meeting week starting Monday 29th April – this will be our official Half Term so there will be no choir rehersals that week. It coincides with the Council Elections so some of our venues are not available.
Week starting 20th May, Bury St Edmunds will be going ahead as normal on Monday 20th but there'll be no rehearsal at Ipswich or Croxton that week, I'm afraid. I'm off on a fact-finding mission to France in preparation for our tour. But don't worry, you'll still get a full ten sessions as the term will continue for an extra week at the end of June.
So, the takeaway message is to check the Calendar section in the members' area, for details of all rehearsals.
Sproughton Beer Festival 12/5/2024
As our first full length gig gets ever closer, we'll be singing a lot of the songs straight through over the next few weeks. Do try and spend a bit of time with the Music Player if you can. Even just having the songs playing along in the background can help them sink in.
Everyone is welcome to come and perform, or you can come along and support if you feel you’re not quite ready. The emphasis will on having fun, making lots of noise and really showing everyone what Pop Club Choir is all about. I shall be working my way through my usual repertoire of (some may say) “witty” banter which those of you who’ve performed with me in the past will have heard plenty of times before. If you could do your best to laugh in the appropriate places that’d be great.
I don’t wish to over-blow my own trumpet (toot toot) but I promise you, you’re in safe hands at gigs and as always, the responsibility for making sure that we give a fantastic performance is completely on me. As long as you look like you’re having a good time, we’ll blow the audience away!
For now, there’s no need to commit the words to memory – though if you can, that’d be great. But obviously, get your parts in the right order, and in a nice neat folder.
Sign up in the Calendar section of the website where you’ll also find the set list and other details.
Website
A reminder to send me a photo (of yourself please – not some random picture) either by using the Upload an image section on the website, or just email it through to ed@popclubchoic.uk
I also publish the songs we’ll be doing each week in the Calendar section so do please keep your eye on that.
Many of you have asked if the Music Player could be make to play the songs one after the other, without you having to press any buttons. I’ll be looking at this next so do watch this space.
I've also added a link to the shop so you can order polo shirts in advance. Remember to add the size you want in the 'other information' box and you can then collect it your next rehearsal.
Go to order a polo shirt to get yours.
Finally, in an effort to cut down on the number of stray copies of the lyrics, I wonder if you'd mind letting me know in advance if you need me to print lyrics out for you. I'm happy to do this, but I'm keen to avoid over-printing. There's a new button in the Your Account where you can let me know if you're unable to print lyrics. I'll check this in the morning of each rehearsal and print out lyrics for everyone who needs them.
