Bake and Craft Sale

Next week, along with our new song Never Forget, we’ll be running Bake and Craft sales at all four locations. So many of you are not only talented bakers, but also incredible crafters so we’ve added this to our well-established and popular bake sales. We’ll be raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Thank you to Sarah for co-ordinating this week of events.

Don't forget, there is no obligation either to bring stuff or to buy stuff. I don’t want Pop Club Choir to feel like that and nor am I about to start a song and dance about how much money we’re raising for good causes. But if you’d like to get involved that’d be great.

If you have any questions about how it works, feel free to send me a message or jump on the WhatsApp chat for your group.

Christmas Gigs

It’s going to be a busy Christmas season. A whopping 13 gigs in the diary from Ipswich to Norwich. Even if you’re a bit unsure of your parts at the first one – this Sunday 9th November at Norfolk Showground – you’ll be all over it by the end of the season.

As I’ve said before, everyone is welcome at the gigs and I very much favour putting on a fun and entertaining performance over everything else. And judging by our summer survey, most of you feel the same.

If you’ve got the “uniform” (Pop Club Choir top and blue jeans) then that’s great. But it’s not a problem if you haven’t or if blue jeans just aren’t your thing. Same applies to lyrics. If you can learn the songs then great, but if not, just come along and use your lyrics.

And you don't have to know all the songs inside out. Feel free to hover at the back and just join in when you can. There'll be enough people there who know it inside out and it's amazing how the experience of standing up in group, performing to a real audience, helps get the notes into your brain!

Above all, gigs are about us having fun performing and conveying that to our always appreciative crowd.

Socials

Thanks to all who came along to our Halloween Party. By the looks of the photos and videos you had a good time. As mentioned on the night, I think we’ll try something a bit different next year (maybe a Christmas Party) so if you have any ideas of what our big, flagship event might look like, do feel free to share.

The Summer Picnic and the hotly contested Quiz will both run again next year and I for one am very much looking forward to our Christmas Meals. And yes, for those that are asking, I am going to all of them. I’ll be as big as a house by the end. Thank you to Carolyn (Bury/Thetford) and Judith (Bungay) for organising.

We’ve also got our sold-out Wreath Making courses running this month and next. Thank you again to Elaine for doing these. I’m sure they’re going to be a lot of fun!

Tech Drop Ins

We’ll continue to run our occasional Tech Drop In sessions before rehearsals starts. I’ll publicise on WhatsApp and Facebook when they’re taking place.

There’s no need to book in. Just bowl up with any questions you may have. No such thing as stupid questions so if you’re struggling to log on or can’t use the Music Player then this is the help you need.

I’m sure you’ll join me in thanking our wonderful Tech Team of Kim, Sharon and Elaine.

Uploads, Downloads and Videos

VIdeo recap lessons for Merry Christmas are in the Videos section of the Member’s Area. I hope you find them useful. Similarly, all the Downloads are there for our new song, Take That’s Never Forget, plus of course on the Music Player.

The general tidying up of the Member’s Area continues and I’ve fixed the Videos section so that the most recently uploaded videos show at the top. Clicking on the column headings to sort by Name or by the date they were uploaded now works better too.

I’m currently working on a rebuild of the Song Suggestions section so expect to see a slightly more intuitive layout some time soon. Beta testers stand by! As always, if you find any bugs or have any suggestions for the website (either the public one or the members' section), feel free to let me know.

If you have any questions then do get in touch. You can email me at ed@popclubchoir.uk, or WhatsApp, call or text on 07973 110075.
