Saturday Synopsis
One More Week
As the end of term approaches I'm sure you're all getting your summer holidays planned. But don't go too far! There'll be lots of opportunities for singing across July and August.
We have gigs on 21st July in Thetford, 4th August at Stonham Barns and there'll be workshops and of course, our end of term social.
We're doing a cake sale at Bury St Edmunds and Thetford rehearsals next week (bake a cake, bring a cake, buy a cake). At Ipswich we'll be doing "nibbles" so please bring a few bits and bobs along and the 5000 will be fed.
Our new choir in Bungay has got off to a flying start, but not made a plan yet for any special end of term celebration. If you'd like to bring "nibbles" along then let me know and we'll try and get some enthusiasm for the project on our Facebook Group.
Summer Social - Sunday 28th July
Our end of term party this year will be at our Thetford venue, Croxton Village Hall. So many of the Bury St Edmunds and Thetford people came along to our Ipswich party in April, so we're hoping you South Suffolk folks will be able to make the trip north.
We'll be having an afternoon picnic on the lawn with a bit of entertainment thrown in. Full details to follow but put the date in your diary!
Workshops
As mentioned at rehearsals, I'll be running some Workshops across the summer. We'll sing some new "Hot Hopefuls" and it'll be an opportunity to learn anything you've missed from the current Pop Club Choir repertoire. If you've got songs you'd like me to cover (or re-cover if you did it the first time but just didn't feel I made a very good job of it!) then do let me know.
Workshops will £15 and will be three hour sessions, almost certainly on a Saturday morning. Full details to be published soon.
Pictures
Do please upload a photo of yourself. You can do this below in the section marked "Upload an image". If you have any difficulties then you can always email me a picture and I'll link it up to your account.
Songs
I've got a busy summer of arranging and recording ahead of me and I'm excited to get going on the next batch of songs. Please do keep the suggestions coming. We won't be able to sing all the songs suggested and I'm not planning on necessarily doing them in the order that they've been requested. I'm obviously keeping my eye on the balance of new stuff, old stuff and so on. And my other eye is on whether I can create a nice arrangement for you too! Some song don't work quite as well as others, in my view.
There are some songs which you've already requested which are ready to go but which I won't be teaching straight away. By way of example, Reach! was requested last December, when Pop Club Choir was but a twinkle in our eyes. But I left it until now to share with you as (as you might have noticed) it's quite tricky!
It's going to sound amazing though!
What I can promise you is that the first song of next term will be a nice, straightforward one!
Website
Lots of website work to do over the summer as well. I'll be re-writing the Music Player and Downloads section and building a few other "tools" that I hope will be useful to you all.
I'm looking forward to seeing many of you at Dragonfest tomorrow (Sunday 23rd June). Please make sure you're there in plenty of time. We'll meet outside the gates and then head in all together at 1pm.
If you have any questions, you can email me at ed@popclubchoir.uk, or whatsapp, call or text on 07973 110075.
