Saturday Synopsis
Normal Service Is Resumed
After my rather triumphant message last Saturday about what a great start to 2025 we'd had, I was laid low with flu this week.
I probably could've got through our sessions but I'm not sure you'd have thanked me for spreading my germs around, particularly as I know one or two of you need to be extra careful about getting ill.
Thank you for all your well-wishes.
I've added another session week-starting Monday 10th February and of course, adjusted expiry dates so that no one misses out.
Hopefully you won't mind my giving you a nudge to join the one-way WhatsApp groups for any locations you attend.
These groups are strictly messages from me only so if chatting is not your thing you won't be bombarded with stuff here.
If you do want to chat, there are separate groups for each location and links to these are in the Useful Information at the top of this section.
Message from Ed
As you may have spotted, I've slightly tweaked how this section works.
When you first load the page, you have to click the Show/Hide button as usual, and then you'll be asked to click again to load the message.
Previously, behind the scenes, all the message were loaded into your browser which firstly, is an unnecessary use of your data, and secondly, slows the page down. And, as I add more messages, this problem would only get worse.
As always, if you have any problems with the site, then don't hesitate to get in touch (see below).
Songs
I didn't achieve much on Friday, Saturday or Sunday (beyond working out how I was going to let you know and adjusting all the members expiry dates). However, the rest of the time was very productive. I've now finished the final arrangement for the term and recorded the vocal parts. That'll be up on the site very soon.
Next week we'll finish Together In Electric Dreams and then the week after, we'll start the above-mentioned (and as yet un-revealed) song.
Lyrics
Feedback on the new style lyrics sheets has been been good and I'm planning a similar format for this term's next song.
If you missed week one, you may not have seen these yet, but the line numbers will hopefully make it easier for me to communicate to you where I am in the song. As always, do let me have your thoughts as to whether you prefer this new format or the old one.
Gigs
Performance opportunities are coming in thick and fast. If you're new to Pop Club Choir, here is a bit of information about how we do gigs:
- Gigs are optional
- You can use your lyrics (though maybe avoid standing in the front row of the choir)
- You son't have to know all the songs. Again, just stand further back and join in when you can
- There are no dance moves but feel free to express yourself by having a boogie
- Pop Club branded merch if possible, but if you're can't afford it, just let me know. I can always lend you a T shirt.
- Above all, have fun, and let the audience know you're doing so! It's the reason our performances are so well received
Do get in touch if you have any questions or comments. You can email me at ed@popclubchoir.uk, or whatsapp, call or text on 07973 110075. Or hit me up on Facebook!
