A weekly, termtime roundup of Pop Club Choir goings-on and a peek at what’s coming next.

Saturday Synopsis

You Can't Stop The Beat

The third and final recap video is now up for this one.

If you were paying attention last week you'll have noticed that there's still a tiny bit of work to do on the ending so I'll be teaching from line 56 ("ah, ah, ah") to the end. I have however covered this section in the final recap lesson.

There's a new Download for this song too which may (or may not) be helpful. It's called "You Can_t Stop The Beat Ah Timing" and it's sets out all the beats of the four bars of lines 56 to 62.

Next Song

The upshot is that I'll need to spend a little bit of time on You Can't Stop The Beat next week. However, I don't want to split the teaching of Giant over the half-term break so I've arranged a little something to fill the gap.

The Sound Of Silence has been at the top of the Pop Club Choir song suggestions for ages now and very shortly after I upload this, I'll get cracking with moving all the resources up to the Members' Area. Despite sounding a bit monumental, it should be fairly easy to learn as most of the verses are pretty similar in terms of the melody lines.

The plan is that we'll get started with it next week, after we've discharged You Can't Stop The Beat and with a bit of luck and fair-wind, we'll get it completed before we break for half-term.

Bungay and other gigs

You won't have been able to forget that we have our first Bungay gig tomorrow (Sunday 4th May) and there's still time to sign up if you'd like to come along. All the details are in the Calendar section.

May is a pretty busy month for gigs too with a double next weekend: Saturday evening at St Elizabeth Hospice, supporting the Hospice and encouraging the walkers. Then, on the Sunday, we're at the always popular Sproughton Beer Festival. I've still to decide whether to include You Can't Stop The Beat on the set list for these ones – let's see how it sounds next week. But assuming we don't (the most likely outcome) the set list will be as per the currently published Draft Set List in the Calendar section.

Finally, we're back in the Bungay area again at the end of the month at the Beccles Food Festival. I'll be drumming up support for this gig too, in the hope that we can cement the good work we'll no doubt do tomorrow at Earlsham Hall, Bungay. I'm excited to put our Bungay choir well and truly on the map.

Bake Sale

A big thank you to everyone at Bury St Edmunds and Thetford for getting involved in the Bake Sale and thank you to Sandra for organising it. We wish our Bury lower alto Kim good luck for her "sleep out!"
