A weekly, termtime roundup of Pop Club Choir goings-on and a peek at what’s coming next.

Saturday Synopsis

I Want It That Way

Well done everyone who came to rehearsals this week. I'm sorry for working you all so hard. I'm happy to report that I Want It That Way is completed at all four locations.

As mentioned last week, I'm going to spend the remaining two rehearsals tidying up a sections of the songs we've learned this term, or anything else you'd like a recap on. Fairytale and I Want It That Way are both sounding amazing already but we'll give them both a little polish and then get them out on some gigs! Can't wait.

Continuing our Christmas theme, our Hot Hopefuls (songs we just sing through for fun – no learning, no harmonies) are Winter Wonderland and The Twelve Days Of Christmas. Lyrics are in the Downloads section as always. Feel free to wear your Christmas jumpers! Somehow I've managed to get through my 55 years of life without actually owning one!

We may also have a go at some Christmas Carols (Ding Dong Merrily on High and Silent Night). It's a little outside our usual repertoire but see below for details of Light Up A Life performance for St Elizabeth Hospice.

Socials

Our Bury and Thetford social (Monday 9th December) is full up but we can still squeeze a few more in for Bungay (Tuesday 10th) and Ipswich (Wednesday 11th at The Railway Inn Westerfield).

For Ipswich, you can sign up below in the Calendar section. The menu is at popclubchoir.uk/ipswichmenu.jpg and we'll need a deposit of £10, either in cash or BACS. Helen will be in touch by email or text about menu choices and payment, so all you need to do for now is sign up.

Many of you have asked if your other halves can come to the meal, and of course they've welcome. Just drop me a line and I'll add them to the list.

And don't forget, we have our gig just before the Ipswich Christmas Meal at the same venue, at around 6pm. You'll need to sign up for that separately in the Calendar by clicking Gigs.

You can sing and eat, just sing or just eat! Whatever you wish!

Trevor's Christmas Sing and other gigs

Tomorrow we're at Moreton Christmas Market (and yes, it's inside and I'd love it if you all brought your Christmas hats. It's a bit short notice, but maybe we'll also have a sing through the Christmas Hot Hopefuls we've done so far (Driving Home For Christmas, Merry Christmas Everyone and I Wish It Could Be Christmas).

Next Saturday (30th November), we're joining Trevor and a few friends from other choirs across the region for a Christmas sing song. It's not an official Pop Club Choir gig so no need to wear your polos or t shirts – Christmas jumpers are the order of the day.

Again, we're inside, and Trevor will be bring lyric sheets for everyone. The Set List is a combination of Carols and what we'd call Christmas Hot Hopefuls. That, and all the other details you need are in the Calendar section.

The next one is Wednesday 11th December at The Railway Inn, Westerfield as mentioned above. We'll be raising money for Papyrus once more. Sign up as usual in the Calendar section by hitting Gigs.

After that, we have the Attleborough Christmas Market on Saturday 14th December. This one will be outside so if it's absolutely sheeting down, we'll give it a miss. I'll let you know via the WhatsApp groups if it's not going ahead (see below).

We continue our Tour of East Anglia the following day (Sunday 15th December) for Ipswich Rugby Club. Officially it's being billed as a Kids' Christmas Party and it should be a lovely, Christmassy event!

The Tuesday after that (17th December) we're at St Elizabeth Hospice for their Light Up A Life celebration. Just three songs: Bring Him Home, Silent Night and Ding Dong Merrily On High.

Finally, we'll be closing the year at Ipswich Sports Club on Friday 20th December with a performance at their Christmas Party. We'll do a set of about 45 minutes to an hour, followed by a bit of a sing-song of Christmas belters.

Hoodies

Finally, the next batch of Pop Club Choir hoodies have arrived so I'll be bringing them along next week for collection. If you've ordered one and not yet paid you can go to popclubchoir.uk/shop and then click Hoody.

I've ordered some spares too, so even if you've not pre-ordered I should have some available.

WhatsApp and Weather

I'll bring this to a close with a quick reminder to join our WhatsApp groups. There are two for each location. One of them is just messages from me – you won't be able to reply which means you won't get pinged by millions people – and the other one is for chatting. At minimum, you should join the Receive Only group as that's where I'll post any urgent messages such as cancellations due to inclement weather.

Details of all the groups are in the section above marked Useful Information.
