Saturday Synopsis
Christmas
Spare a thought for me! I’ve been preparing Christmas material since August – our next song will be our Christmas tune and if you’ve glanced at the Song Suggestions section below, you’ll probably be able to work out what that will be.
I hope you’ve enjoyed doing some work on Fairytale of New York this week. I’ve just added “very loud” versions of all parts to the music player and the Downloads so I hope this might encourage you to do a spot of work on your bit.
This week we’ll also be refreshing our repertoire of Christmas Carols ready for the first of our Christmas performances. You’ll find the resources in the Downloads below.
Badges
You might have noticed that I’ve been giving badges a gentle push recently. I know it probably feels a bit like work for those of you who have to wear a lanyard all day, but I’ve had so many comments in the questionnaire from people saying that they don’t know enough people’s names. Hopefully badges, and my week one warm up (which we’ll revisit at some point) will help.
As always, you can order badges at popclubchoir.uk/shop
Incidentally, if you’ve got the old style name badge with your name on just one side and you’d like one of the new ones, you can order that in the same place, free of charge. Just add a note to the order saying you only need the paper bit or send me a message on WhatsApp.
Take On Me Mr Brightside
I’m loving how this one is sounding and I’m excited to start singing it at gigs. I’m trying to take things a little more slowly with the teaching so I think we’ve probably got a couple of weeks work on this, maybe even three. As always, let me know if this slightly slower style is floating your boat or driving you crackers!
Socials
Our headline event this term is our Halloween Party. Tickets are available in the shop at popclubchoir.uk/shop
All are welcome so feel free to bring other halves, friends and family.
Tickets are £15 and include bloody curdling beef or been chilli with chips, nachos, cheese and sour cream. There’ll be an opportunity to sing with our fabulous live band, The SERIOUS Hat Band and our Ipswich venue, Ipswich Sports Club, will be decorated in a sensationally spooky style.
Fancy dress is the order of the day. So either just pop on a witches hat or go the whole nine yards. It’s up to you.
Thank you to Elaine for organising the Suffolk Punch trip last month. I know a good time was had by all and I’ve loved seeing all the photos.
Elaine’s also organising two Wreath Making sessions on Saturday 29th November (in Bury St Edmunds) and Saturday 13th December in Ipswich. You can sign up and get all the details including location, times and what you’ll need to bring, in the Calendar below.
Continuing the Christmas theme, the dates of our Christmas Socials are also in the Calendar. Always over-subscribed so do book in. We’ll work out payment and so on a little nearer the time but for now, please mark yourself as coming in the Calendar to secure your place.
If you have any questions then do get in touch. You can email me at ed@popclubchoir.uk, or WhatsApp, call or text on 07973 110075.
