A weekly, termtime roundup of Pop Club Choir goings-on and a peek at what’s coming next.

Saturday Synopsis

Saturday Synopsis

Busy, busy, busy!

I’m looking forward to a busy weekend of singing with you all. Saturday afternoon we’ll be singing at Brandon Pride which promises to be a lot of fun and then, on Sunday, at The Guildhall in Bury St Edmunds in support of St Nicholas Hospice.

The following Sunday (21st June) we have Race For Life in Ipswich at Trinity Park (also known as The Suffolk Showground).

The weather looks great for this weekend’s festivities so fingers crossed for more of the same.

Songs

We’ve now finished the formal learning of I Will Wait / What Is Love. It’s been a fun one to teach! Many of you weren’t familiar with with the original version of I Will Wait but, as I joked when we started it, I’m sure you are now!

All the usual Resources are available and of course, you'll find Recap and Rehearsal videos on the Player.

Next week we’ll be looking at Sunshine On Leith by The Proclaimers. Unless we absolutely whizz through it, I'm thinking this may well be our last song of the term– though of course, I have another one ready to go, just in case.

Again, I’m expecting not everyone to know this and if you fall into that category, do take a listen to it on Youtube.

We’ll be continuing our Hot Hopefuls and the Rapid Recaps we’ve been doing all term. As always, you can check the schedule for the week’s rehearsal on the Calendar

Sing-Through Songs Voting

One or two of you have reported not seeing the voting section for the songs you'd like to sing through at rehearsal. I’ve set things up so that this members area isn’t constantly badgering you with reminders. So, if you’ve clicked Remind me later or Skip for any of the boxes that pop up, you should not see another one for a while.

However, you can now also vote directly and check the current votes in the Calendar. Click the rehearsal to show all the usual info and scroll down to the the bottom. There you'll find the Highest-vote songs section. And if you’ve not yet voted (and if voting hasn’t closed) you can click the Vote Now! button to tell me which songs you’d like to sing through.

You’ll only be able to vote for your regular rehearsal location but if you’re one of the Travelling Pop Clubbers, and you’d like to be able to vote at other locations, then just drop me a line and I’ll add you to the register for any other location you'd like.

Voting opens a week in advance at around 8pm. So, while we’re having our break in the middle of the rehearsal, you should be able to log on and vote for the songs you’d like to sing at the following week’s rehearsal.

Voting closes at midnight on the day before the rehearsal. This is to give you a chance to check what we’ll be singing through and either do a bit of prep or just get your lyrics folder in order.

Summer Picnic

I’m very excited about this year’s Summer Picnic. It’s on Sunday 26th July at our Thetford venue (Thetford Cricket Club). We'll have not seen each other for a few weeks by then so it'll be a great opportunity to catch up with good food, good company and to do some good singing!

There’ll be the usual karaoke and sing-songs, the return of the Pop Club Choir Cornhole Championship, and (pending further discussions with the ‘social committee’) we may even do a barbecue for those of you who don’t love packing up a picnic or just fancy something hot.

Tickets are £6 and are available at popclubchoir.uk/shop
