A weekly, termtime roundup of Pop Club Choir goings-on and a peek at what’s coming next.

Saturday Synopsis

Half Term

I hope you've all had good break and you're looking forward to getting back to singing next week.

It's been a busy week for me. There are new video recaps for the final week of You've Got A Friend plus a whole song recap for I Want It That Way. I hope they're useful and don't forget to let me know if there are any songs from the back catalogue you'd particularly like me to cover.

I've also done what I hope will be an easy, yet agreeable, arrangement of Take That's Rule The World – our hot hopeful from last week. All the Resources are in the Downloads below.

I think we may well get through the whole song in one session. Bury St Edmunds will be our guinea pigs and what happens on Monday night will no doubt define what happens for the rest of the week. The plan is to take it nice and slowly though (not my long suit, I acknowledge) so if it ends up being a two-weeker that's absolutely fine by me.

This week would be a perfect week for someone to come for a free taster. If you know anyone who might be thinking of coming along, do direct them to popclubchoir.uk/tryforfree to sign up for a free taster.

It turns out that Facebook is quite effective at getting the word out. So, thank you to all of you who kindly share my Facebook posts and if you'd like to do your own post about Pop Club Choir plesae do so. Again, just adding the words "tryforfree" in lower case after the website address will take you straight to the free taster secton.

Website

Did you know, you can sort the Downloads by the date I last modified them by clicking on the Last Modified column heading? Click once to show the oldest first and a second time to sort the list so the most recently updated one shows up at the top of the list. A good way to check quickly when I've added something new.

One or two of you have reported problems with Song Suggestions section. That's slated for a rebuild in the next few weeks. For now, if you're on your phone, make sure it's turned to landscape orientation. If you want to add a song, you need first to search for it and only then will you be offered the option to add a song.

I was getting so many duplicates being added and obviously, I didn't want to skew the voting by having votes for a particular request being spread across several suggestions for the same song.

Badges

As well as commenting on the Facebook post by going to www.facebook.com/groups/popclubchoir/posts/1409270603276468 you can now also order badges in our online shop at popclubchoir.uk/shop. The cost is 50p but that's payable in cash when you collect if you don't mind so the price shows as £0 in the shop. Our payment provider doesn't allow payments of such a small amount.

If you order there, you'll notice there are a couple options: firstly, you'll need to specify the name, exactly as you want it to appear on the badge (I suggest your first name plus the first letter of your surname), and secondly, which location you'd like to collect from.

Socials

I'd welcome your thoughts on what you'd like to do for Social Events. I think our choir is more about fun and friendship than big spangly shows but I really enjoyed the events we did last year and I hope they were an opportunity for people get to know each other outside of the slightly more rigid rehearsal format.

I'm planning on having our grand Halloween Party again, where you can get up and sing with the band, and our Summer Picnic was also really fun. I've got some other things in the pipeline so watch this space.

However, it was also really nice just to bowl up to our various Christmas meals, kindly organised by some of our members. And they were also really fun and a great way to chat to more people. If you'd like to get involved in organising any social events, or even if you just have some ideas, do get in touch.

As always, please share your thoughts and feedback. You can email me at ed@popclubchoir.uk, or whatsapp, call or text on 07973 110075. Or hit me up on Facebook!
