A weekly, termtime roundup of Pop Club Choir goings-on and a peek at what’s coming next.

Saturday Synopsis

It's A Wrap

Well, bar the summer picnic, that's the fifth term of Pop Club Choir completed. The nibbles for the final rehearsals of term were well received and you seemed to enjoy the opportunity to take a slightly longer break in the middle.

As mentioned, do let me know whether you found the recaps helpful or whether you'd have preferred to learn a new song.

And we've a couple more gigs before I go away for a couple of weeks in July. The first in Ipswich at Cliff Lane Primary School (their summer fete). The address, set list and all other details are in the Calendar. The second is at Bungay Market at the Buttercross. Again details are in the Calendar.

Please do sign up for these.

Workshops

I'll soon be adding details of our summer workshops. Scroll down to the Calendar and then hit the button marked Workshops. There you'll be able to indicate whether you'd like to come, just as you do for gigs – the usual options of coming, interested, not available and undecided with be available.

From there I'll then get in touch with you all with a link to pay once I'm sure we've got enough people signed up.

At the moment, it seems that more of you would prefer an evening session on your usual night at (or at least near) your usual venue.

Questionnaire and Christmas Songs

It's been a while since we've done a questionnaire so I might set up something online for you to complete over the summer. A lot of you have shared your ideas of what you like and what you think could be improved and I'd definitely encourage you to keep doing so. Similarly, the WhatsApp Chat Groups have been working well as a place to discuss ideas.

Currently, the Bury St Edmunds chat seems to be a hotbed of discussion about the best Christmas song! Mad though it seems to be thinking about Christmas at the end of June, we will be tackling our 2025 Christmas repertoire when we come back in September. That means I'll need to start arranging it and preparing the downloads next month.

So, if you've got any views, please do jump on the WhatsApp Chat for your choir, or facebook.com/groups/popclubchoir and make some suggestions.

Video Recaps

Hopefully you've found the recap video for Reach!. I'll be doing similar videos for This Is Me and Oh What A Night over the summer so that videos are available for everything we covered in our recap sessions at the end of this term. Keep an eye on the videos section below.

Next term

As always, the dates for next term are in the Calendar section. I've tweaked them recently as there was a problem with one of our venues but hopefully they shouldn't change again.

At the excellent suggestion of one of our Ipswich lower altos, I'm hoping to rebuild the Calendar section across the summer to make it a bit more user-friendly and so you can see all the dates at a glance.

Normal service will be resumed...

After the two gigs in early July, I'm off to France for a few weeks so might not be responding to messages quite a promptly as normal. This is will also be the last Saturday Synopsis until we come back in September.

However, I'll be back on Facebook and WhatsApp with details of the Summer Workshops and the August and September gigs very soon. Watch this space, or rather, watch that space!

Looking forward to seeing lots of you tomorrow at the picnic, next weekend at the Ipswich and Bungay gigs. But if our paths don't cross at these events, may I wish you a splendid, splendid summer.
