Saturday Synopsis
Santa Tell Me and other songs…
We’re just putting the finishing touches to the lyric sheet, scores and audio downloads for this year’s Christmas Song. If you weren’t at rehearsal this week you might not know that it’s Ariana Grande’s Santa Tell Me. We’ll get started with that next week!
Slightly less well known, but slightly more up to date than lots of the songs we’ll all be hearing on repeat over the next couple of months. By all means have a listen to the original version but you’ll find there’s quite a bit more going on in my arrangement including a musical easter egg tucked into the bridge for your entertainment!
We’ll still have a sing through lots of the traditional Christmas tunes such as Shaky’s Merry Christmas Everyone, and of course some Christmas Carols plus last year’s Merry Christmas (Ed Sheeran) and the appropriately sanitised Fairytale of New York.
All in all, it’s going to be a busy season.
I have our next arrangement all ready to go, plus a backup plan in case Santa Tell Me turns out to be harder than I expect. You may feel you need a rest! If so, I’ll go with something a little more straightforward for the final song of term.
Lost and Found
I’ve added a couple of new fields to the popclubchoir.uk/account section where you can add an in case of emergency contact name and number. Fingers crossed we’ll never need it for any health-related reasons but there have been a couple of occasions recently where people have left stuff (in particular a mobile phone) and we’ve not been able to raise them.
Do please add someone we can get in touch with if we need to – and of course, do check they’re happy for you to add their details to the website and for me to contact them if required.
Gigs
Lots of gigs coming up in November and December. I’ve started updating the set list for the November ones so do check the popclubchoir.uk/calendar for details of what we’ll be singing. Where I’ve not quite finalised the set list you may see a couple of TBCs still or a more general description of what we’ll be doing.
Last term’s songs Days and I Will Wait/What Is Love are firmly in the set list and I’m really looking forward to adding Sunshine on Leith too. In case you’re unaware, the usual system is that, unless I’m just too excited to wait, we don’t add the previous term’s songs into the gigging set until the following term. The idea is that it gives me plenty of opportunity to sing it through at rehearsal and gives you a bit of time to learn your part.
The exception to this is of course the Christmas Song. We’ll get that in as soon as it’s learned, hopefully in time for the late November gigs.
