Great songs

More added every month

A fantastic selection of well known pop songs, some belters from the musicals, and more... with top quality backing tracks too.

Personal touch

Local group for local folks

A local singing group, based right here in Suffolk. We know you all personally and you can speak directly to Ed at any time.

Pop in when you can

Catch up when you need to

Don't worry if you miss a session. Catch up videos, learning tracks, lyrics, sheet music, rehearsal schedule and more online.

Ed's enthusiasm is infectious.

Terry (Choir Member)

Happy choir singers

Everyone is welcome

All singing levels welcome. Even if you think you can't sing, you'll feel right at home at our fun and relaxed sessions. There's no pressure and the responsibility for you learning the songs is on me, not you!

There are regular performance oportunities and social events — but they're optional so if you just prefer to come and sing at the weekly sessions, that's just fine.

Lyrics and sheet music are available to download so you can choose which works better for you. Everything is taught by rote so there's no need to read music, or have any musical knowledge. Leave all that to me!

Sheer joy!

All about me

My name is Ed. I’m your Musical Director, Conductor, Pianist, Vocal Coach, Creative Director, Music Arranger, Backing Track Maker and Event Planner, all rolled into one.

I've lived in Suffolk nearly all my life and have spent the last 35 years working in the music business. I've played and sung all over the world at some amazing places such as the Café de Paris in Monte Carlo, St Paul's Cathedral, and the Shangri-La Amphitheatre in Oman. And I've made music with lots of famous celebs too, from Robbie Williams and Michael Ball to Westlife and Christian Slater.

Most of my career has been in the world of pop music where I'm usually to be found singing or playing the guitar, but I've also worked in classical ensembles (as a violin player) and in professional choirs as both a singer and an accompanist.

Simply wonderful!

Songs We Sing

We're constantly adding songs to our repertoire but here's a small selection of some of the stuff we've either sung recently or we'll be singing soon!

If you've missed a song you can re-learn it using the resources in the Members' Area, or you can attend one of our regular recap sessions where we cover songs we've previously learned.

And we'd love to hear which songs you'd like to do to so be sure to let us know!

How does it work?

Pop Club Choir runs every week for ten weeks during school term time, usually divided into two blocks of five weeks, separated by school half term.

We open up about 30 minutes before the start of the session so you can catch up with your friends and get settled down. Each session is 90 minutes long with a short break in the middle.

We have several locations across Suffolk and you can attend as many different locations you like.

James Brison-Smith (Brison-Events)

Everyone (everyone) can sing!

If you whistle or hum along to the radio yet have always believed "I can't sing," then think again!

Singing is no different from other physical activites. The more we do it, the easier it becomes. Imagine singing ' "Happy Birthday" in a big group. Do you worry about being in tune or whether you're making a nice sound? No! That's because you've sung it a million times and you're using your muscle memory.

It's true that not everyone is born with a naturally beautiful voice. But singing in a group is about voices blending together. The tones we all produce combine to give a magnificent sound.

I'll let you into a secret: when soloists sing together in groups of more than a few, they change how they sing. Have a look at the famous "Three Tenors" Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras. The sharp-eyed amongst you will notice that they don't actually all sing at the same time that often and when they do... well, let's just say, it wouldn't work if there were 50 of them singing like that.

Try us for free

We think everyone will love singing with us but don't take our word for it.

Come and give it a try!

It's absolutely free of charge and there no obligation.

We promise you a warm welcome, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the chance to see what we do.

We all remember the first time we crossed the threshold to come and sing with the choir and we know it can feel just a little daunting.

There'll be someone at the door to welcome you.

They'll give you some 'songs words' and a 'welcome pack' and settle you down in your seat.

Then it's down to you to just join in as much or as little as you like.

Workshops

Longer sessions to catch up with the songs you've missed

Workshops

We run regular 3 hour Workshops, outside of our usual "term-time" rehearsals

It's a great way to catch up with anything you missed, whether that's because we learned it before you joined Pop Club Choir, or whether you missed a rehearsal or two, or whether you just want a refresher of a particular song.

The longer sessions are also an opportunity to cover things such as how best to look after your voice and improve your sound, singing solos, microphone technique and much more.

And of course, as well as learning the main song, we always sing lots of other stuff, without worrying about learning harmonies!
